Hell’s Kitchen Winner, Holli Ugalde, Rejected By Gordon Ramsay Again?

According to the Herald Scotland, Holli Ugalde was recently shunned by Gordon Ramsay - again. Is it true? Yes and no. The Herald Scotland portrayed the incident as if it had just happened yesterday, but in fact, Holli was shunned by Gordon Ramsay for a second time over a month ago, during her trip to London. Why hadn't anyone caught this until now? I guess we didn’t read Holli Ugalde’s blog regularly enough. Or maybe we were too distracted with the 3 law suits against Ramsay, or too mesmerized by his Botox and hair transplant. In any case, here’s the real story:

During a trip to London in early December, Holli Ugalde contacted Gordon Ramsay & his minions to see if she could have a tour of the Savoy London, the restaurant she was supposed to join as head chef. Instead of humoring her, Gordon Ramsay’s team responded with: “the Savoy Grill is not available for tours” (and nothing else).

According to the Herald Scotland, a spokesperson for Gordon Ramsay made the following statement: “She asked to visit before her work visa was declined and then the Grill was just a building site and not open to visitors. She wasn’t able to work at The Savoy Grill, so why would she go to the opening?”

Harsh.

News of Holli’s rescinded job offer as Head Chef of the Savoy, London was well spread before December 1st and Holli even stated so in her blog. But even though the promised opportunity was pulled, why wouldn’t she want to at least take a peak of the restaurant she was supposed to work at? And why such a cold and bitchy response from Ramsay?

I’ve said this before, but I really hope we have an “Asshole-Ramsay-Free” year in 2011.

It looks like Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares isn’t just about the restaurant anymore. According to The Daily Mirror, the Kitchen Nightmares’ star and executive producer has added a number of irrelevant questions to the Kitchen Nightmares contestant application. How much a contestant weighs, as well as their height, eye and hair color are just a few of the questions that have been added. But my favorites of all of them are these:
  • Have you ever had a restraining order filed against you?
  • Does your family have a history of depression?
  • Are you easily upset?

Actually, the one regarding a history of depression seems to be fair.

A friend of mine had filled out an application for Chef Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen (as a joke) and told me that they had similar questions on the application he filled out, which he thought was strange. Considering that Kitchen Nightmare’s is supposed to be focused on the restaurants and not the contestants, asking such personal questions doesn’t seem right.

Moreover, Chef Gordon Ramsay should be focused more on cleaning up his muddied image instead of adding to his laundry list of drama and evil doings.

Are those questions even legal? But then again, does he really care?

  1. People want to get on the show so that they can work with better people the Ramsey but they have to pretend Ramsey is who they want to work with in the beginning. It is all about t.v. time.

  2. Dosen't sound harsh to me, HK stopped doing tours of restaurants before opening awhile ago, (probably due to safety issues of people wandering around in anincomplete building and potentially getting injured). I feel bad for Holli, but you can't blame Ramsay for her Visa application getting rejected, the U.K. office is pretty picky about who they let in the country nowadays, The producers and Gordon probably weren't expecting the application to be rejected and didn't plan for it, so there wasn't much they could do. What i'm wondering is why Holli didn't just try applying for a Visa herself(unless it was written in her contract that she couldn't, which I doubt)

  3. for the questions that Ramsay put on the application, i think it is because he tends to be very pushy and say bad words even in the shows, you will know if you watch the shows. for the weight, i believe it is relevant because obese people will move slow and they have potentials to have heart attach or any disease for the matter ,so it is very important to know abt their BMI. I can see from your articles that you do not like Gordon Ramsay.

  4. It might be because her win was revealed after episode 1 on the HK message board. It was supposed to be kept secret. This may be part of the reason they did not give her the prize.

  5. I really don't care who wins. I just like to see the journey. The last 4 episodes of a season are usually boring.
